Mission
To provide high quality, customer-focused Information Technology Services and business solutions to the Ministry and citizens.

Vision

Effective management of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) as a means for improving and achieving the social, economic and political growth through effective service delivery.

The services of ICT are becoming increasingly part and parcel of the modern way of working. The government does not desire to continue lagging in this aspect of technology.

ICT is currently a major issue in government operations especially with the growing focus on creating an electronic based transaction government (e-government).

The Functions of ICT Unit are:

1. Advising the Ministry on matters related to ICT.
2. Networking and spearheading the equipping of the entire Ministry with appropriate ICT facilities.
3. Providing the necessary ICT interface between the Ministry and stakeholders through a dynamic     website.
4. Offering technical advice on the procurement of ICT equipment.
5. Updating ICT in Ministry so as to keep pace with technology developments.
6. Ensuring optimal operation/use of ICT through training and other capacity building interventions.


MANDATE:
The department's mandate rest's on the ICT functions which entails ensuring and maintaining ICT standards within the Ministry.

It further involves facilitating rapid national economic growth and development through appropriate application of Information Communication Technology for sustainable performance improvement, increase productivity/communications and provision of quality public services
